Final Fantasy VIII News If you are tired of reading my long paragraphs to get info then look for my facts page coming soon which will be straight to the point. July 5th I apologize for not updating in awile but that just means I'll have to make up for all that I missed, so here goes. So far there are at least 3 cities have been named, Firstencell, Spica, and Zul Avizira. Firstenell is said to be much like Final Fantasy VII's Midgar. All of these cities are very hi-tech and all have a 'Super Weapon", like the Sister Ray in FF7. All 3 cities are in control by Weapon City who uses their artillery to well, control all. Square have announced that 2 regular Final Fantasy characters will appear in FF8. That's only two out of four recurring characters that will return, therefore 2 have been dropped from Final Fantasy 8. The four characters are Cid, Mog, Wedge, and Vicks/Biggs. Square announced that Wedge and Biggs will have cameo appearences. This means one of two things. 1. Mog and Cid have been completely dropped out of the series. 2. Mog and Cid will have major roles in the game, and this is what I personally belive. Final Fantasy VIII will lose it's "cutesy" feel. Chocobos will go back to their original forms of flying mini-dragons. You will also be able to breed monsters to come into your party and fight with you. They will count as party members and will be able to gain experience. I have started working on some new pages that will be up shortly. They are rumors, storyline, and credits, so look for them soon. The plot for Final Fantasy VIII is said to be completed and will be released shortly. FF8 is supposed to be 4 to 5 CD's long and the first CD is 100% completed. The game is coming along and this gamer cannot wait. I have discovered a few more tidbits the other day and here they are. The Parasite Eve engine, as mentioned in my last update, is quite different from the engine of Final Fantasy VII. Some of you are probably wondering what I mean by "engine". The engine is how the game is setup, for example, the engine of FFVII is that you have a awkward looking character is running around a prerendered backdrop(a still picture as opposed to 3D). The characters can sometimes get very far away, making them hard to see(one of the gripes of FFVII). The battle engine is that you choose what action you want to make and the computer will decide how much damage you do to the opponent. Now for the point, the Parasite Eve engine. The PE engine is somewhat like the popular PlayStation game Resident Evil, the characters are well proportioned and look realistic. The camera is always close so you can see your character and it makes the whole experience feel like a movie. Now the battle engine is what's quite different. You still attack and use abilties but you also can move the character around meaning that the closer you are to the enemy, the better the chance that you will take more damage but you will also have a better chance of hitting the target and to deal more damage. You can also move farther away but you have a lesser chnace of hitting the enemy and you will deal less damage. I personally think this sounds kind of hard, but who knows? I may like it a lot better. The materia system from FFVII is being scrapped and FFVIII will use the system employed in Soukaigi. The player won't use materia, but the concept of your character being able to create something is now under consideration. There will be a non-plyable demo of FF8 bundled with Parasite Eve this fall and a playable demo packaged witf Brave Fencer Musashiden, which will be released this summer. June 7th, 1998 I just got my whole page up and running in the last few days and I hope you enjoy all of the effort I put into it. Now for the facts. One. It has been confirmed that there will be two different worlds in FFVIII. At the Japanese press conference, banners on the wall clearly state "Two Worlds, Two Heroes". Also, major online magazines have confirmed this. Two. The girl(blue dress) that is in the pictures is named Lenore. Three. The theme of the game is "Love". Four. The game may use the Parasite Eve engine. I do not know if this is a good thing or not, as I have not yet played Parasite Eve. Five. The characters will be larger and texture mapped so they will look detailed and a lot more realistic. The characters will also have a more universal look as opposed to the anime look of FFVII. You will be able to have three characters in your party at once and you will see all three when you are in towns and on the world map, as opposed to all of the characters hiding behind the main character. |
